Baseball Recap: Exeter-West Greenwich Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Exeter-West Greenwich got themselves on the board against North Smithfield on Tuesday, but North Smithfield never followed suit. They blew past the Northmen 11-0. The Scarlet Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.

Tyler Mediros was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Mediros was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Exeter-West Greenwich's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Dawson Sweet was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kole Kilduff, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Exeter-West Greenwich was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Exeter-West Greenwich's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for North Smithfield, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Coming up, Exeter-West Greenwich will face off against Paul Cuffee at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Exeter-West Greenwich is facing Paul Cuffee at the right time seeing as Paul Cuffee is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for North Smithfield, they will take on Hope at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Wave will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Northmen surely won't give up without a fight.
