Football Recap: George Jenkins Takes a Loss + How To Watch

George Jenkins extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were outmatched by the Lakeland Christian Vikings and fell 35-7. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 413th, while the Vikings are ranked 156th).

As for Lakeland Christian, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.3 points on average over those games.

Brody Brenneman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 99 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also throwing for 243 yards and two TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 80 yards. Devonte Howard was another key player, picking up 146 receiving yards and one score.

Looking ahead, George Jenkins will head out to challenge Ridge Community at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Bolts' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Lakeland Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Carrollwood Day at 7:30 p.m. This will be the Vikings' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
