Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Christian Crusaders vs. Gatewood Gators

Trinity Christian and Gatewood are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Trinity Christian Crusaders will venture away from home to square off against the Gatewood Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Trinity Christian is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since November 19, 2024 on Monday. They took a blow against Central Fellowship Christian Academy, falling 74-37. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 547th, while the Lancers are ranked 175th).

Meanwhile, Gatewood was able to grind out a solid victory over Windsor Academy on Monday, taking the game 77-70.

Trinity Christian better keep an eye on Matt Allen. He was instrumental in Gatewood's win, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which Allen has scored at least a third of Gatewood's points. Kaden Keiser was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Gatewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Gatewood's record is now 14-4. As for Trinity Christian, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-16.

Trinity Christian came up short against Gatewood in their previous matchup last Tuesday, falling 68-60. Can Trinity Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
