Basketball Recap: Apache Junction Comes Up Short

Apache Junction was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 47-40 to the Coolidge Bears. The Prospectors lost against the Bears in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 67-29 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Apache Junction lost, don't look at Omar Adam. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points. The matchup was Adam's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Roy Nelson, who posted ten points and three steals.

Coolidge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Preston Dees out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Porter Dees was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Apache Junction's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Coolidge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-3.

Apache Junction wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-35 loss against Florence on the 10th. As for Coolidge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-51 defeat against Palo Verde on the 9th.
