Football Recap: Mclane Skates Past Sanger West with Ease

McLane had won five straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped up to 8-0 to make it six. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Sanger West Hornets 49-14. Fans of the Highlanders have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McLane to victory, but perhaps none more so than Vernon Lacy, who threw for 357 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.5 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 30 yards. Those 357 passing yards gave Lacy a new career-high. Demetrius Simon also helped out as he racked up 138 receiving yards.

McLane didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Sergio Jacuinde and Jerin Scott. Another thorn in Sanger West's side was Juan Raygoza, who picked up two sacks and made six total tackles (4.0 for loss).

As for Sanger West, they moved to 4-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 575th, while McLane is ranked 224th).

Although Sanger West took the loss, they still got scores from TANNER KUHNEL and HECTOR CAYETANO THOMAS.

Coming up, McLane will be playing in front of their home fans against Madera South at 7:30 p.m. on the 24th. The Highlanders will be up against the Stallions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 46 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Sanger West, they will face off against Fresno at 7:30 p.m. on the 24th. The Hornets will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.43 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
