Soccer Recap: Academic Magnet Takes a Loss

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Academic Magnet and Porter-Gaud meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Raptors came up short against the Cyclones, falling 5-1. The game was a close 1-0 at the break, but unfortunately for Academic Magnet it sure didn't stay that way.

Their goal came courtesy of Mattie Vermette, who's now up to 12 this season.

Academic Magnet's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Porter-Gaud, they pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Academic Magnet has already played their next match, a 2-2 draw against A.C. Reynolds on the 24th. As for Porter-Gaud, they will host Pinewood Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinewood Prep will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Porter-Gaud surely won't give up without a fight.
