Basketball Game Preview: La Plata Warriors vs. Bowie Bulldogs

The La Plata Warriors will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Bowie Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. La Plata is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.8 points per game this season.

While La Plata didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They strolled past Central with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 69-55. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Falcons are ranked 206th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

La Plata's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makai Fitch led the charge by going 6 of 11 on his way to 20 points along with seven boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of McKinley Harrold, who went 8 of 17 en route to 19 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Bowie is still undefeated this season after their match against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North on Saturday, but Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North came as close as anyone has to beating them. Bowie sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-51 win over Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North.

La Plata pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Bowie, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
