League recap: Villa Park tops Buena Park to extend winning streak

Villa Park extended the longest winning streak in Century this week by beating Buena Park, 66-40. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Spartans.

Villa Park scaled the state rankings by moving to 98 from 138 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Dusan Ancich's team was able to move up by besting the Coyotes 66-40.

Canyon's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Corey Elsasser threw for 225 and 2 touchdowns and Chris Prescott had 133 yards receiving. On the ground Andrew Derlin contributed 39 yards. Matt Meier helped Canyon's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 48 yards.

He went 22-52 with 5 interceptions.

Derlin was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 39 yards on 9 carries as the Comanches fell to La Habra. Teammate Matthew Treanor added to the ground attack by rushing for 25 yards.

5-foot-11 quarterback Dylan Osborne of the Spartans is the league leader in passing yards this season with 2,398. He has also thrown 20 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Prescott. The Canyon star has 60 catches for 1,158 yards.

So far this year, Elsasser has thrown for 1,956 yards with 15 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Foothill fell to Los Alamitos 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
