Basketball Recap: West Florida Comes Up Short

West Florida lost against Foley back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The West Florida Jaguars lost 54-31 to the Foley Lions. The match marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, West Florida saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Amani Bartholomew went 5 of 7 on her way to 11 points and six boards. Bartholomew has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

Even though they lost, West Florida smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

West Florida's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Foley, they pushed their record up to 22-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

West Florida didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-36 defeat against Pensacola on the 6th. Foley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
