Basketball Recap: Kamehameha Hawai'i Comes Up Short

Kamehameha Hawai'i saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell 57-50 to the Casa Roble Rams. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Warriors came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 12th in Hawaii, while the Rams are ranked 230th in California).

Leading Casa Roble to victory were Mason Pearcy and Moses Oginni. Pearcy went 6 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven assists and four steals, while Oginni dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 boards. The match was Oginni's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Benny Ambriz, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 12 points.

Kamehameha Hawai'i has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Casa Roble, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Kamehameha Hawai'i wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 74-70 win against Hawaii Prep on the 28th. As for Casa Roble, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-44 loss against Gig Harbor on the 28th.
