Softball Recap: Irondequoit Triumphs

Irondequoit's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wilson Magnet Wildcats a 21-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Irondequoit got a massive performance out of AnaSophia Cartagena, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with six RBI, three runs, and one double. Those six RBI gave Cartagena a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Faticone, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and three RBI.

Irondequoit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .730. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Irondequoit back to even at 4-4. As for Wilson Magnet, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Irondequoit will be playing in front of their home fans against Eastridge at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wilson Magnet, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Finney at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
