Our Lady of the Sacred Heart moved up to 415 from 536 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in WPIAL A Big Seven. A 35-14 win over the Chargers helped the Chargers improve their standing.
Shenango was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to seventh in the league. Earlier in the week, the Wildcats triumphed over the Wildcats 49-6.
Joe Salmen and Joe Salmen gave Union Area a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Salmen threw for 77 yards and one touchdown, while Salmen ran for 91 yards. Drew Robinson also contributed to the rushing game with 71 yards on the ground.
Zack Woznichak was the best wideout in the league this week as Our Lady of the Sacred Heart fell to Sto-Rox. Woznichak racked up three receptions for 28 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Salmen of the Scotties is the league leader in passing yards this season with 519. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, Bill Daniels's team's Isiah Neely has rushed for 532 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Nick Miller. The Western Beaver star has four catches for 115 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Western Beaver takes on Rochester. The Golden Beavers are in sixth place, while the Rams are in first place.
Rochester extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating South Side, 38-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for Eugene Matsook's team.
