Football Recap: Concordia Takes a Loss

Concordia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Valor South Austin Falcons and fell 62-27.

When it comes to explaining why Concordia lost, don't look at Henry Kalbas. Despite the final result, he picked up 64 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 121 yards on only 11 carries. Kalbas didn't just play on offense: he also made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended one pass in addition to snagging two interceptions.

Concordia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Kalbas.

Concordia's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Valor South Austin, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Concordia has already played their next game, a 62-13 loss against Coram Deo Academy on the 26th. As for Valor South Austin, after each having a week off, they and Jubilee Lake View University Prep will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 947 yards in their previous games.
