Baseball Recap: Everett Wins Going Away Against Tussey Mountain

Everett owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They blew past the Tussey Mountain Titans 8-0. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Chase Sherwood made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Everett is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-8 otherwise. Sherwood was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Whitfield, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Lane Whitfield, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Everett always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Everett's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Tussey Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Coming up, Everett will head out to challenge Meyersdale at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Red Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
