Basketball Recap: Lakeland Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lakeland can now relate to. They fell 61-52 to the Bartow Yellow Jackets on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Dreadnaughts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 68th).

Bartow's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Brinson, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Brinson a new career-high in points. Jah'Mir Wallace was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards.

Lakeland's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Bartow, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-8.

Lakeland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bartow, they will challenge East River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
