Preview: McAdams Bulldogs vs. Velma Jackson Falcons
The McAdams Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Velma Jackson Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McAdams has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 546 points over their last eight games.
Even though Nanih Waiya scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, McAdams still came out on top. McAdams enjoyed a cozy 71-55 win over Nanih Waiya. Given McAdams' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Nanih Waiya is ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Velma Jackson's game on Tuesday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 46-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nanih Waiya.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Joel Fleming, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds. Cameron Tate was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
McAdams is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Velma Jackson, they dropped their record down to 9-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
McAdams strolled past Velma Jackson when the teams last played on January 9th by a score of 63-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for McAdams since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
