League recap: Elk County Catholic's Herzing delivers best pitching performance from past week

Jack Herzing was the best pitcher in Allegheny Mountain this week, leading Elk County Catholic. Over the past week, he had one win and 13 Ks.

The Crusaders (17-3, 8-3) are red-hot, having won nine straight games, the longest such streak in the league. One of those wins came in the past week,.

The Crusaders' pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only six hits and seven walks, both of which led the league.

Four batters hit over .400 this week. The group was paced by Brock McCullough, who collected three hits in four at bats for a .750 average.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Herzing, who turned in 13 Ks for Elk County Catholic. He's first in the league with 70 total strikeouts.



The Crusaders' Herzing struck out 13 Ridgway hitters en route to a 6-3 victory on May 23. Over seven innings of work, he gave up six hits and three runs.
