Basketball Game Preview: Canfield Cardinals vs. Streetsboro Rockets

The Canfield Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Streetsboro Rockets at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Canfield will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Canfield is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Harding: they outscored them in every quarter. Canfield enjoyed a cozy 36-22 win over Harding on Wednesday. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Raiders are ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Streetsboro waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 62-25 victory over the Colts. The Rockets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 31 points or more this season.

Streetsboro pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points per game. As for Canfield, their victory bumped their record up to 20-1.

Canfield couldn't quite finish off Streetsboro when the teams last played back in February of 2024 and fell 41-38. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Streetsboro's Naomi Benson, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards.
