Recap: Minnesota Valley Lutheran Chargers vs. Springfield Tigers

The Minnesota Valley Lutheran Chargers pushed their score all the way to 68 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Springfield 74-68. Minnesota Valley Lutheran was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Brayden Sturm continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Springfield, going 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 0 assists. Sturm is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 22 or more in the last three games he's played. Ben Potter was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Minnesota Valley Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Springfield, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-5.

Minnesota Valley Lutheran has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st. One thing working in Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 15 contests. As for Springfield, they and the Mustangs will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart has now lost 16 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 4.
