Basketball Game Preview: Independence 76ers vs. South Bulldogs

Independence is 0-10 against South since February of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Independence 76ers will face off against the South Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m.

Independence is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Eastmoor Academy on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Independence had to suffer through a 82-53 loss at the hands of Eastmoor Academy. The 76ers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely South's strategy against Briggs on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that South blew Briggs out of the water with a 60-29 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bulldogs had established a 26 point advantage.

South's win came from a few key players Independence will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Neko Tuff, who posted 13 points. John Glover was another key player, putting up 11 points.

South is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points per game. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.

Independence suffered a grim 78-52 defeat to South in their previous matchup back in January. Can Independence avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
