Baseball Game Preview: Hudson Bluehawks vs. Saugerties Sawyers

The Hudson Bluehawks will venture away from home to square off against the Saugerties Sawyers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hudson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

Hudson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Germantown with a sharp 23-1 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Bluehawks in their matchups with the Clippers: they've now won five in a row.

Gannon Logue and Trent Keller made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Logue tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Keller pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Logue went 4-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Keller went 2-for-4 with five RBI and three runs. Hudson is 7-1 when Logue posts two or more runs, but 0-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Hudson got a massive performance out of Ryan Conte, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave Conte a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Perry, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Hudson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .617. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Saugerties didn't have quite enough to beat Roosevelt on Monday and fell 2-1. The Sawyers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hudson's record now sits at 7-5. As for Saugerties, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Hudson suffered a grim 16-6 defeat to Saugerties in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Bluehawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
