Basketball Game Preview: Austin Black Bears vs. Oxford Yellow Jackets

The Austin Black Bears will be taking part in a tournament against the Oxford Yellow Jackets on Friday. Austin has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with six straight losses, while Oxford will come in with three straight victories.

Austin saw some tournament action on Saturday. The match between them and Decatur Heritage Christian Academy didn't end well, with Austin falling 64-47. While losing is never fun, the Black Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while the Eagles are ranked 32nd).

Meanwhile, Oxford earned a 66-56 win over Benjamin Russell on Saturday.

Austin's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Oxford, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Austin came up short against Oxford in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 53-48. Can Austin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
