Football Recap: Fairmont Senior Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Fairmont Senior can now relate to. They took a 36-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Robert C. Byrd Eagles on Friday. It was the first time this season that the Polar Bears let down their fans at home.

Isaiah Heflin produced another solid effort rushing for 101 yards and three scores on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 113 yards and one TD on only nine passes for Robert C. Byrd. That's the most rushing touchdowns Heflin has posted since back in August. Robert C. Byrd's leading receiver Junior Smith was Heflin's top target yet again, picking up 47 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also punching in one rushing score.

Fairmont Senior's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Robert C. Byrd, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Fairmont Senior nor Robert C. Byrd have any future games scheduled.
