Downingtown West and Downingtown East are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2017, but not for long. The Whippets will be playing at home against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Downingtown West is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

If Downingtown West beats Downingtown East with 33 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Whippets simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Coatesville 33-0. The result was nothing new for the Whippets, who have now won five contests by 30 points or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Downingtown East earned a 35-26 win over Bishop Shanahan on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Eagles are ranked 88th).

Downingtown East's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Downingtown West, their win bumped their record up to an identical 7-2.

Downingtown West won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, slipping by Downingtown East 14-13. Do the Whippets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
