Softball Recap: Pace Extends Road Winning Streak to Seven

On Thursday Pace's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Niceville Eagles. The one-run effort marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Niceville's batters probably weren't too happy with Hannah DeMarcus, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 33 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Those 33 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for DeMarcus.

On the hitting side, Pace's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Cox, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base. Laila Loomis also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Pace's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Niceville, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Coming up, Pace will be playing in front of their home fans against Jay at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Jay will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Pace surely won't give up without a fight. As for Niceville, they will face off against Choctawhatchee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
