Basketball Game Preview: Victor Valley Jackrabbits vs. Western Christian Fighting Lancers

The Victor Valley Jackrabbits will face off against the Western Christian Fighting Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Victor Valley is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Silverado on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Victor Valley took a blow against Silverado, falling 63-32. The Jackrabbits haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Despite the loss, Victor Valley had strong showings from Eden Roberts, who posted 12 points, and Arnetta Ealy Newton, who earned nine points and five rebounds. Ealy Newton has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kimora Love, who scored seven points.

Meanwhile, Western Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 61-1 victory over the Warriors. With the Fighting Lancers ahead 39-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Victor Valley better keep an eye on Izzy Balderrama. She was instrumental in Western Christian's win, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten boards. Those ten points gave Balderrama a new career-high. Hannah Yamamoto was another key player, putting up eight points.

Western Christian pushed their record up to 15-10 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.5 points over those games. As for Victor Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
