Baseball Recap: Dixie Has No Trouble Against Snow Canyon

Dixie made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Snow Canyon, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Dixie was the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Snow Canyon on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Flyers, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Carson Hunt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dixie is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Hunt was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

Hunt wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Colton Hill, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Hill has become a key player for Dixie: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Another was Carter Turley, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Dixie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Snow Canyon only posted an OBP of .323.

Dixie's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-7. As for Snow Canyon, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 11-3 record.

Coming up, Dixie will host Desert Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Hills will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Dixie surely won't give up without a fight. As for Snow Canyon, they will venture away from home to square off against Hurricane at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
