Volleyball Recap: Mourning Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

North Miami came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Mourning, but Juan Clavijo wouldn't allow it. The Sharks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Pioneers on Thursday for which the team can thank Clavijo, who had 65 digs. Clavijo is crushing it when it comes to digs: he's had at least ten every time he's taken the court this season.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (108-102) Mourning actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 15-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-12.

Mourning found their leader in sophomore Clavijo, who had 65 digs.

Mourning's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9. As for North Miami, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 10-1.

Looking ahead, Mourning will square off against Killian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sharks are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for North Miami, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Hialeah Gardens on the 4th.
