League recap: Wakulla extends winning streak with victory over Jefferson County

Wakulla extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 2 this week by beating Jefferson County, 28-12. The win marks fifth in a row for the the War Eagles.

Rickards made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,665 from 1,982. The improvement was the result of 39-3 victory over the Raiders last week.

Godby's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. J.T. Bradwell threw for 268 and three touchdowns and Wade Phillip had 77 yards receiving. On the ground Khalid Thomas chipped in 133 yards. Tim Longmire helped Godby's passing attack out by catching two balls for 67 yards.

6-foot-2 quarterback Bradwell of the Cougars is the league leader in passing yards this season with 877. He has also thrown eight touchdowns. On the ground, Wakulla's Demetrius Lindsey has rushed for 339 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tra'von Holmes. The Rickards star has 19 catches for 306 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Godby takes on Suwannee. Ronnie Cottrell's team is in second place, while the Bulldogs are in third place.

The Cougars led 5A District 2 in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on Crestview. Bradwell ran for one yards in the win.
