Baseball Game Preview: Batavia Bulldogs vs. Goshen Warriors

The Batavia Bulldogs will square off against the Goshen Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Batavia is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

On Monday, Batavia beat Summit Country Day 8-3.

Brayden Schmittou was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 11 matches. Another player making a difference was Derek Richardson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Batavia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summit Country Day only posted a batting average of .167.

Meanwhile, Goshen lost 12-2 to Milford last Saturday.

Batavia's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Goshen, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4.

Batavia took their win against Goshen when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 9-1 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
