Weld Central hasn't had much luck against Liberty Common recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Rebels will host the Eagles at 10:00 a.m. Weld Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Weld Central came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-1 to Resurrection Christian. The game marked the Rebels' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Weld Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Dinges, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberty Common). They put the hurt on Platte Valley with a sharp 17-7 win on Wednesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Liberty Common let Bryson Weibler and Raphael McDanald run wild. Weibler got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while McDanald got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. What's more, McDanald posted three hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Teagan Williams, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Liberty Common always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Weld Central's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-5. As for Liberty Common, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-5.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Weld Central has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Liberty Common struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
