The Archbishop Riordan Crusaders are taking a road trip to challenge the Leigh Longhorns at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Archbishop Riordan 4, Leigh 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Archbishop Riordan took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Sacred Heart Prep.
Nathan Zuromski made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other pitching news, Logan Tuman looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
Zuromski wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kane Cook, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Cook also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another was Keoni Ordonez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Leigh waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over the Trojans. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Longhorns this season.
Marcus Glanville looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Mogannam, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Dylan Christian was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Leigh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milpitas only posted a batting average of .217.
Archbishop Riordan's record now sits at 3-1-1. As for Leigh, their record now sits at 3-1.
Leigh's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Archbishop Riordan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game.
