            Softball Recap: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Brighton Bengals        
        
		
        
        
            While Maple Mountain didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Brighton Bengals 16-3 on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Golden Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
 Gracie Jensen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching six innings while giving up  three earned runs off   nine  hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-5 with one  home run and three  RBI.
 In other batting news, Maple Mountain got a  massive  performance out of  Carly Erickson, who  went a perfect 4-for-4 with three  runs, four  RBI,  and two  doubles. Erickson continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's  played.  Izzie Groneman was another key player,  going 2-for-5 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs.
 Maple Mountain  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 17  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  got at least ten  hits in three consecutive  matchups.
Maple Mountain's record is now 10-2. As for Brighton, they now  have a losing record of 5-6.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maple Mountain will take on Cedar Valley at 3:30  p.m.  on  the 8th. As for Brighton, they will face off against Alta at 3:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Brighton's pitchers better be ready for this one: Alta has averaged an impressive 6.3  runs per game this season.
