Baseball Recap: Maple Mountain Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Maple Mountain had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Cedar Valley Aviators. That's two games straight that the Golden Eagles have won by exactly four runs.

Kavyn Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Cole Erickson was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Jeremiah Hall was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Maple Mountain's record is now 13-1. As for Cedar Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Maple Mountain will have a chance to go back-to-back against Cedar Valley: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
