Basketball Game Preview: Halifax Academy Vikings vs. Wilson Christian Academy Chargers

Halifax Academy and Wilson Christian Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Halifax Academy Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Wilson Christian Academy Chargers at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Halifax Academy strolled past Southampton Academy with points to spare, taking the game 42-24. The match marked the Vikings' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Halifax Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payton Odom, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. That's the most points Odom has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Karson Ricks, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points and five steals.

Meanwhile, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Wilson Christian Academy made off with a 26-25 victory over Arendell Parrott Academy. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Halifax Academy's record is now 4-5. As for Wilson Christian Academy, their record now sits at 8-2.

Halifax Academy might still be hurting after the 53-30 defeat they got from Wilson Christian Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2021. Can Halifax Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
