Softball Recap: Whitesboro Wins Going Away Against Pilot Point

Whitesboro got themselves on the board against Pilot Point on Thursday, but Pilot Point never followed suit. They put the hurt on Pilot Point with a sharp 17-0 victory. The win continues a trend for Whitesboro in their matchups with Pilot Point: they've now won eight in a row.

Avery Howerton made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Whitesboro got a massive performance out of Bradi Gallaway, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those five hits gave Gallaway a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylar Olsen, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Whitesboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Whitesboro's record is now 17-8. As for Pilot Point, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Whitesboro nor Pilot Point have any future games scheduled.
