Basketball Recap: Johnson Takes a Loss

Johnson played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 62-33 loss at the hands of the San Marcos Rattlers. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 562nd, while the Rattlers are ranked 71st).

Ayleceia Pierson had a dynamite game for San Marcos, going 6 for 7 on her way to 16 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. Pierson is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezra Tobias, who posted ten points.

Johnson has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for San Marcos, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-5.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Johnson Jaguars take on the Canyon Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canyon has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for San Marcos, they will head out to challenge Clemens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Marcos is facing Clemens at the right time seeing as Clemens is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
