Sadie Bradford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Lillian Wearden was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kira Preslar, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Akins was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Del Valle, falling 10-1.
Akins saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Rae Ramos, who went 2-for-4 with one double. Brianna Yanez also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Akins' loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Dripping Springs, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6-1 record this season.
Akins' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dripping Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. It's a different story for Akins, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain Dripping Springs' hitters?
