Football Recap: Shenandoah Valley Comes Up Short

Shenandoah Valley extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They were dealt a 49-6 defeat at the hands of the Minersville Battlin' Miners. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 44-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

As for Minersville, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 32.5 points thus far.

Minersville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Paiten Lapoint, who picked up 55 receiving yards and two TDs. That's the most receiving touchdowns Lapoint has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dante Carr, who threw for 113 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Shenandoah Valley is set to take on their familiar foe Schuylkill Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Minersville will face off against rival Mahanoy Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
