Chaparral came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Eunice Cardinals 14-2. The result was nothing new for the Lobos, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Israel Nieto made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nicolas Flores, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Aiden Munoz was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Chaparral was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive games.

Chaparral pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Eunice, they moved to 4-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Chaparral will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mesilla Valley Christian School at 3:00 p.m. Chaparral's pitchers better be ready for this one: Mesilla Valley Christian School has averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Eunice, they will take on Melrose at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
