St. John Paul II Catholic comes up short despite Isabel Sesmas' dominant performance

After flying high against the Trivium Prep Crimson Knights last Wednesday, the St. John Paul II Catholic Lions came back down to earth. St. John Paul II Catholic fell to Mohave Accelerated 51-47. St. John Paul II Catholic found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 14 fewer assists than your opponent.

Despite the loss, St. John Paul II Catholic still got an impressive performance from Isabel Sesmas, who dropped a triple-double on 24 points, 13 rebounds, and 13 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sesmas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sofia Cervantes, who scored 12 points along with two steals.

Mohave Accelerated got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Megan Jones out in front who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and four blocks. Jones is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last five games she's played. Bronte Gee was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 14 rebounds.

St. John Paul II Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Mohave Accelerated, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.

Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Arizona Lutheran Academy the next time they take the court. St. John Paul II Catholic will host Arizona Lutheran Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Mohave Accelerated will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
