Basketball Recap: Lincoln Falls Despite Big Games from Aubrey Sandbothe and Addie Naughton

After flying high against Jefferson last Tuesday, Lincoln came back down to earth. The Lincoln Lynx took a 60-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sioux City East Black Raiders on Friday. The Lynx were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Black Raiders earlier this season, when they won 69-64.

Lincoln's loss came despite strong showings from Addie Naughton and Aubrey Sandbothe. Naughton posted 16 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds, while Sandbothe almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Naughton also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Lincoln is 4-2 when she posts at least five steals, but 5-7 otherwise.

Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Sioux City East, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-5.

Looking ahead, Lincoln will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Marian at 5:30 p.m. Lincoln is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season. Sioux City East has already played their next contest (against Lincoln Northeast), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
