Boardman waltzed into their game on Thursday with seven straight wins...and they left with eight. They blew past the Austintown-Fitch Falcons 3-0.

One reason for the win was Boardman's defense just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 25-23, 25-21, 25-18.

It was another big night for Maya Flores, who had 17 kills, 12 digs, and two solo blocks. Another player making a difference was Gianna Commons, who had 15 assists and 11 digs.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Seneca Coates, who had 28 assists and 10 digs. The team also got some help from Preslie Watts, who had 13 digs and 12 kills.

Boardman has now won 12 of their last 13 games on the road. That gives them an 8-3 record this season. As for Austintown-Fitch, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's dealt a heavy blow to their 6-6 record this season.

Boardman and Austintown-Fitch should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 120th) will meet Harding (ranked 728th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Austintown-Fitch will have a rank advantage in their match against Girard at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
