Noah Morgan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Milan's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Grant Langferman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Waldron had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 13-1 victory. The Mohawks not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15th (when they won 21-2).
Charlie Fischer made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Waldron let Jackson Kuhn and Troy Atwood run wild. Kuhn went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Atwood got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Kuhn is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of J.D. Smith, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Waldron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Waldron's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-12. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Milan, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Milan has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Waldron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
