Basketball Recap: Gateway Takes a Loss

Gateway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 44-21 to the Aurora Central Trojans. The game marked the Olympians' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Jamaea Johnson-Gonzales was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 13 boards for Aurora Central. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johnson-Gonzales has scored at least a third of Aurora Central's points. Another player making a difference was Aditi Arreola, who posted three points in addition to seven rebounds, five assists, and five steals.

Gateway's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Aurora Central, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-4.

Gateway will take on Thornton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Aurora Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Overland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Overland will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Aurora Central surely won't give up without a fight.
