Two dominant backs in Jayden Roberts and Ronald Wilder Jr. are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Vincent beat Isabella 33-28. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellow Jackets.
Landon Archer produced another solid performance rushing for 253 yards and three scores while picking up 14.9 yards per carry.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Vincent proved: they limited Isabella to a paltry 2.6 yards per carry. While three picked up at least one total tackle, Archer stood above the rest. He rushed for 253 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.9 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Greene County posted their closest victory since September 27, 2024 last Friday. They had just enough and edged out Isabella 38-36.
Vincent better keep an eye on Kelvies Snoddy. He was instrumental in Greene County's win, throwing for 297 yards and three TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 42 yards and a pair of scores. Jordan Thomas was Snoddy's top target, picking up 101 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 41 yards.
Vincent's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Greene County, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Vincent has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 251.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Greene County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 232.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Vincent came up short against Greene County when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 32-24. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wilder Jr., who rushed for 289 yards and three TDs on only 15 carries. Now that the Yellow Jackets know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
