Basketball Recap: St. Stephens Takes a Loss

St. Stephens played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the North Lincoln Knights, falling 86-65. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why St. Stephens lost, don't look at Noah Vanbeurden. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 12 from beyond the arc en route to 40 points. Another player making a difference was Jachavis Sherrill, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 15 points and eight boards.

Kellen Karr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Lincoln, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 18 rebounds. The contest was Karr's third in a row with at least ten points. Ty Sanders was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

St. Stephens' defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for North Lincoln, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Stephens will square off against East Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in St. Stephens' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games. As for North Lincoln, they will challenge Foard at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Foard: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while North Lincoln has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
