Baseball Recap: Hoover Comes Up Short

Hoover extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-17. They came up short against the Sanger West Hornets, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 back in March.

Hoover saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cruz Escamilla, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Sanger West, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.

On Sanger West's side, Koby Daoheuang made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Daoheuang a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jovanni Quintana was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. He has become a key player for Sanger West: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aydan De Leon, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

While Hoover had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
