Softball Recap: Saranac Spartans vs. Ticonderoga Sentinels

After a string of seven wins, Saranac's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Ticonderoga Sentinels by a score of 4-3. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Saranac has scored all season.

Abby Owen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in five consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Saranac saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Irelyn Ryan, who went 1-for-3 with a double.

Saranac will head out on the road to challenge Franklin Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ticonderoga, they will be playing at home against Moriah at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Ticonderoga is facing Moriah at the right time seeing as Moriah is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
