Game recap: St. John Bosco High School Football Team defeats Mater Dei

BELLFLOWER, Calif. - the Braves scored 14 points in the second quarter to secure a big 24-2 victory over Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) on Saturday.

St. John Bosco scored on a Sean McGrew touchdown run and a Cole McNamara touchdown pass to McGrew in the quarter.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by McGrew in the second quarter, SJB led 14-2 at the half.

The Bellflower school grew its lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. The Braves scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Jaleel Wadood.

St. John Bosco had given up an average of 15.8 points prior to the contest. The two points that the Monarchs ended with were well below their average of 32.1 coming into the game.



SJB also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 27-19.

St. John Bosco (9-0) will play a Trinity game against Servite next week, while Mater Dei (7-2) will take on Orange Lutheran also in a Trinity game.
